The pilot project of this scheme was first tried in Gorakhpur district. In which portability was implemented through ePass machine at city and rural level. After that, the ration card portability scheme was implemented under the pilot in Barabanki, Gautam Budh Nagar, Hapur, Kanpur Nagar, Kanpur Dehat, Unnao, Lucknow and Barabanki on the instructions of the government. Has been done.

There are 126392 and 668659 card holders of eligible households under the Antyodaya Yojana in Gorakhpur district. District Supply Officer Anand Kumar Singh said that any person from any district of the state will be able to take ration in any district of the state. The ration is already being disbursed only after being verified through e-posh machine. He claimed that food subsidy of Rs. 1552 crore has been saved only after the implementation of e-posh machine.

 Benefits of ration portability

Once the ration portability starts, the monopoly of the Kotdars will end. This will directly benefit the poor. Pradhans in villages and councilors in cities, the poor had to face difficulties in getting food grains due to the strong alliance of kotedars with councilors. Now such complaints will be curbed. If the other poor man migrates to other cities in the hope of employment, then he cannot get his quota ration.
