According to BCCI sources, the IPL will start on September 19 and the final will be played on November 8. The 51-day tournament is scheduled with the consent and requirement of franchisees, broadcasters and stakeholders. Earlier, it was said that the IPL would start on September 26, though India did not want the team's tour of Australia to go awry.

In order to travel to Australia, India has to stay in touch for 14 days as per the government rules there. Delays in the IPL can make it difficult for players. The tournament will last for 51 days, with dub headers reduced, sources said. The seven-week tournament will have only five double-header matches. As per the schedule, the teams are expected to start the camp from August 20.
